From the "British Water Birds" series. These elegant and slightly exotic birds are a relatively new to the UK, arriving to breed in the 1980s. They belong to the heron family and can be seen hunting for fish in the shallows. The background is West Wittering beach at sunset, one of my favourite places and my favourite time of day.
